The SLCL Undergraduate Research Initiative supports faculty-initiated research projects that will allow for the involvement of undergraduate students who have not yet decided on their own research topic, but who would like to obtain research experience. Ideally, a student's participation in a faculty member's research project would be a stepping-stone toward conducting independent research.

Current projects include:

Departments of East Asian Languages and Cultures and Linguistics - Investigating fluency characteristics of test responses to controlled versus spontaneous speaking tasks: Implication for second language pedagogy and assessment (Fall 2020)

Department of Linguistics - Validating the diagnostic potential of a profile-based writing scale for second language writers (Fall 2020)

Note (11/30/20): This initiative is currently suspended. However, please consult your Director of Undergraduate Studies for information about exciting ongoing research opportunities within your department.
