The director is the chief executive officer of the School of Literatures, Cultures & Linguistics. His/her responsibilities and duties include:

  • Coordinating interdisciplinary and interdepartmental programs in the school
  • Being the liaison with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and other administrative units of the university
  • Serving as chair of the school's executive committee
  • Presiding over meetings of department heads and program directors
  • Recommending faculty and staff appointments, reappointments, promotions, and leaves to the dean of LAS in consultation with executive officers
  • Overseeing the budget, research laboratories, and non-academic staffing needs of the school
  • Determining a policy for the use of space in the Literatures, Cultures & Linguistics Building
