This spring marked the end of an era for linguistics professor James Yoon. After 15 years, his tenure as head of the Department of Linguistics has concluded.
Yoon was honored for his service at the department’s spring awards ceremony.
“I have worked with James in department administration for over a decade now, and I know how deeply he cares about the needs of everyone in the department—graduate students, specialized faculty, junior faculty, staff... No issue is too small to warrant his attention," said linguistics professor Tania Ionin. "James is truly invested in everyone and everything in our department. He has been the leader of our department not for the sake of being a leader, but for the sake of the department and the people in it—and that makes the best kind of leader.”
