The National Herald, the paper of record for the Greek Diaspora community, recently highlighted the Department of Classics on the front page of their Greek Language Edition.

The department's classics and Modern Greek programs were prominently featured, along with student opportunities such as the Classics Club, a study abroad program in Athens, and "Meet the Greeks" and "Meet the Romans" summer camps for children aged 8-11. The article also mentioned several key resources available on campus, such as the Classics Library Collection, Illinois classics journals including Illinois Classical Studies and Advances in Archaeomaterials and museum collections at Spurlock and Krannert Art Museums on campus.

The National Herald also included a recognition of the department's major donors, George Reveliotis and the Greek Consulate in Chicago, ahead of their visit to campus on Monday, February 10 in honor of International Greek Language Day.

It also mentioned that for the first time in history, the Department of Classics will be hosting the annual conference of their main regional association, the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS) on March 19-22, 2025.
