The School of Literatures, Cultures & Linguistics joins our colleagues in the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center and the Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures in their condemnation of the military assault on Ukraine. Furthermore, we also join in their request to support the communities that will be affected by it, first and foremost the Ukrainian people. 

As it has been said many times, knowledge is the best antidote for falsehoods and distortions that are spread to justify atrocities, now and in the past. We encourage the Illinois community to learn more about Ukraine, Russia, and the region in general: through our SLCL courses, as well as those in REEEC, but also through the many activities and discussions we organize.
