Antony Augoustakis, Professor of Classics, has been named a University Scholar for 2019-22.

The University Scholars program aims to recognize outstanding members of the faculty and to provide each with a funding allocation to enhance her or his scholarly activities. University Scholar awards represent recognition of the recipient’s excellence and the University’s commitment to foster outstanding people and their work.

Scholar awards are not made for a specific project or proposal; rather, they represent recognition of the recipient’s excellence and the University’s commitment to foster outstanding people and their work. Therefore, the awards are made through nominations, not by application.

Recipients may use the funds at their discretion to enhance their scholarly work through travel, equipment, research assistants, scholarly materials or other uses that support their university-related teaching or research.

This is the second consecutive year an SLCL professor has been named a University Scholar, as last year a University Scholar award went to Elena Delgado, Professor of Spanish and Portuguese. Waïl S. Hassan, Professor of Comparative and World Literature, was named in 2016.
