The Douglas A. Kibbee Prize was created by colleagues, friends, and students of Professor Douglas Kibbee in honor of his distinguished career and service as the first Director of the School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics, and on the occasion of his retirement in 2010.

Douglas A KibbeeThe Kibbee Prize will be awarded annually to the recipient of an SLCL Dissertation Completion Fellowship whose dissertation project is judged by the School’s Executive Committee to be the most outstanding. On occasion the Executive Committee may choose to select two winners of the Kibbee Prize.

The School, under Doug's wise direction and with his generous support, provided the context and the resources to foster the creativity and ambitions of the faculty and students.

Gifts to the Kibbee Prize not only recognize excellence among the students in the School but also continue the legacy of a truly great teacher and scholar whose influence will continue at the University of Illinois for years to come.

Your generosity is sincerely appreciated.
