Anke Pinkert, Associate Professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures, is one of three recipients of an IPRH (Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities) New Horizons Summer Faculty Research Fellowship for 2018.

Pinkert’s research project is titled, “Remembering 1989: Future Archives of Public Protest and Assembly.”

Her areas of research include Modern German culture, literature, and film; Holocaust studies; memory and affect; postcommunist transnational studies; Humanities as field, theory, and practice; educational philosophy; and mass incarceration. She was previously named an IPRH Humanities Fellow for academic year 2012-2013 for her project, "Transforming the Humanities Through Higher Education in Prison."
